This recipe (without the optional ingredients) comes from Living on Live Food by Alissa Cohen. This has been a favorite of mine for years.


  • 2 cups dried dates
  • 2 cups raw almond butter
  • 1/2 cup carob or cocoa powder
  • Optional ingredient: unsweetened coconut flakes, or go all out, and add chocolate chips.
  1. Process dates in a food processor until they form a paste.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and process until blended.
  3. Scoop into balls.

Store in the fridge.
